Common questions

Should I fit a GFB DV?:

No, fit a new genuine revision G diverter valve, they can be unreliable, stick or create a delay.

Should I do a PCV delete?:

No, keep or fix the stock PCV system, these engines do not behave with PCV deletes.

What oil should I use?:

Quantum 5w40 from AKS or Coverdale, originally VW specified 5w30 but you'll have high oil consumption with this.

What clutch should I use?

Stock power:

Stock LUK from Eurocarparts/AutoDoc

*Not from eBay due to counterfeits*

Stage 1, 2, 2+, hybrid:

TTRS clutch setup: AKS Tuning

*Yes it's direct fit, close to stock pedal feel, holds 450ft-lbs torque*

Helix DMF Organic from AKS Tuning is also a good choice if a heavier pedal is suitable for you.

Helix SMF Paddle would be suitable if launching, driving excessively hard or the car spends it's time on track.

*Do not use an RTS clutch of any sort*

What coilpacks should I buy?:

Genuine R8 coilpacks from the suppliers above, some other suppliers listed above will supply Bosch or NGK coilpacks, you can use these but genuine coilpacks will have a longer lifespan.

What spark plugs do I need?:

NGK BKR7EIX from the suppliers above

No service intervals but ~100k is a good idea

*Genuine only from AKS or Coverdale*

When is my DSG service due?:

Every 40K

Cam follower replacement?:

Replace every ~10K to be safe, you can make adjustments to this based off the cars usage and driving style.
